1 SoW stipulates support for Internet Explorer
  • determined to be very expensive and time consuming and not easy to maintain concurrently with Netscape version, so we found another approach
2 Alternative approach studied, designed, and prototyped (full implementation proposed for Year 4)
  • Solution also helps with some problems of browsers relative to Tango
    • Browsers critical but nonstandard Java and bugs implies extremely unfriendly for developers
    • Performance problems under UNIX
    • Development and maintenance of two different technologies very expensive
