From Methodology of Computational Science CPS615 Computational Science -- Spring Semester 2000. by Geoffrey C. Fox

1 Every processor has a memory others can't access.
2 Advantages:
  • Relatively easy to design and build
  • Predictable behavior
  • Can be scalable
  • Can hide latency of communication
3 Disadvantages:
  • Hard to program
  • Program and O/S (and sometimes data) must be replicated
