Application Programming Interfaces
  • Document Object Model (DOM) - tree based
    • compiles an XML document into an internal tree structure
    • allows application to navigate the tree
  • Simple API for XML (SAX) - event based
    • reports parsing events directly to the application through callbacks
    • does not usually build an internal tree
