Foil 14 Computational Science and Syracuse Degrees

From Integration of Information Technology and Computational Science in Education and Research Computer Science Seminar -- August 27 1999. by Geoffrey C. Fox

1 Essentially nobody is interested in the available (computational science) named certificates and Masters degrees
2 Unfortunately students outside computer science are mainly interested in a masters in computer science as this is known to be a "Ticket to a Green Card".
  • Students enroll in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and take the CS Masters "on the side". They then leave .....
3 Many students do attend the courses and the Computer Science PhD students like the Computational Science PhD written qualifying exam ( you must take and pass 3 exams in areas such as algorithms, AI, operating systems/architecture, logic )
4 Computational Science is an allowed exam area and students chose one of the two tracks
