Foil 19 A Computational Class

From Java Tutorial 98-2: Java Language and Object Oriented Techniques CPS606 Fall Semester 1999 -- Sept 7 1999. by Geoffrey C. Fox, Nancy McCracken

A class (such as a "main routine") may also be implemented to have just one computational instance.
This application reads from standard input and counts number of characters which are then printed
  • class Count {
  • public static void main (String args[])
  • throws java.io.IOException
  • { int count = 0;
  • while (System.in.read() != -1)
  • count++;
  • System.out.println("Input has " + count + " chars.");
  • }}
