Check with Guansong and "FEDEX" out Friday Forge my signature Dear President Yang I am writing this letter asking your special help in regard to Dr. Guansong Zhang's application for a waiver from the "two year service rule" from HIT and Chinese government. According to U.S. immigration law, a J-visa holder, as in Guansong's case, can only work three years in the U.S.A., unless he can get a waiver from his own country. During the past two and half years, Guansong's work at NPAC has included some impressive achievements including an HPF compiler and Fortran to Java translator. These technologies are good examples of the benefits of the collaboration between HIT and NPAC which combine the talent of your staff with the benefit of working in NPAC's projects involving many major universities and other organizations in the U.S.A. I am sure that Guansong will be a great asset to HIT if he come back to your university. However as an honored professor of HIT, I also believe that it will be more beneficial if he can continue to work at NPAC. This will help not only NPAC but also HIT, because the cooperation relationship between the two institutes will allow our leading edge projects to continue to feed knowledge and contacts into HIT. So I hope that you can assist his application for the waiver, and your effort in this regard will be greatly appreciated. I understand that his application material including an appointment letter from NPAC has been sent to HIT already. However I am of course more than willing to provide any additional documents you need. Since this is a timely issue (Guansong Zhang's visa will expire on 15th this October), I am looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible. I thank you for any help you can give Yours respectfully
