Shrideep is one of the few students at Syracuse who have the potentiality to take a serious
computer science problem and produce a thesis which tackles it at a level of the best students
in the world. He has several good achievements under his belt including a recent intenship at
IBM where he did work at a high level according to his supervisor, Dan Sturman who reports
Shrideep to be a very strong system builder. I was also impressed by several of his projects
including the image toolkit and his masters thesis.

Shrideep has not found it so easy to focus on a research topic and that is apparent from the
richness of his resume. However he is now ready to focus on this last leap and I believe he is
likely to write an excellent piece of work. I have suggested he look at the new generation of
event based distributed systems and examine the issues needed to get high performance.
