Comments on Stevenson Promotion:
You asked my recommendation on Stevenson promotion. Reviewing his material 
I found it hard to make a clear statement as his recent published research activity is not in 
computational science but in more formal areas such as geometry which I am not 
qualified to evaluate He is nationally known in the HPCC community for his interest in 
computational science education. However this field is still fragmented and as you can 
see from his resume there hasn’t been a lot of activity there recently. I am personally very 
involved in computational science education through the NSF supercomputer 
recompetition and use of Web technologies in its delivery. However I have not seen 
Stevenson as part of these recent activities. Thus I am unable to give you the national 
validation you request but I am only qualified to review parts of his work!
