Processing Instructions

• Processing instructions are not part of the document’s data but must be passed through to the application

• Hold processing directions and information passed to XML parsers and programs

• PI begins with the target application identifier

• Example:

<?xml version = “1.0” ?>

<?xml-stylesheet type=“text/xsl” href=“mystyle.xsl”?>
