Foil 8 Sharing Server Side Objects II

From Tango Futures: XML for Portals, Web-based Collaboration and Distance Education Rice University Tango Tutorial -- October 18 1999. by Geoffrey C. Fox

1 We have used the shared proxy notion to implement
  • Shared Browser
  • Shared Form to access Server side computation (NCSA Biology Workbench -- bunch of CGI scripts)
  • Shared access to Web-linked database
2 Server does not need to know about detail of
3 collaboration.
4 It is more efficient if it
5 caches information for
6 re-use.
7 Thus use custom data-base
8 caching or general
9 proxy server
