1 RSVP supports unicast and multicast sessions
2 QoS requirements are communicated through a network via a flow specification from receiver to sender
3 Session set-up
  • (1) receiver joins a multicast group using IGMP
  • (2) sender sends RSVP path message to the IP destination address
  • (3) receiver starts sending appropriate reservation request messages specifying the desired flow descriptors using RSVP
  • (4) sender starts sending data
