Visualization

• Perform some tests in order to determine the best terrain chunk sizes--a couple of days
• concurrent data fetch, using sproc call. How much can we get out of it?--1 month
• data preparation. DEMs are in 1 degree chunks. We need to create a file-system of images (both maps and satellite), locked, because of texture mapping hardware requirements not bigger than 512x512 pixels (depending on scale 15 or 7.5 minutes)--a student, 4-6 weeks at most
  I think it is useful to prepare several sets of satellite images (2-3), with bright colors (use some algorithms from ERMapper, eg. vegetation, Fe concentration, etc)
• cache system improvements--2 weeks
• a consistent gui, based on SGI's motif--2-3 weeks
• determination of system's computation/graphics power at startup--1 week
• multiwindow mode on one side--1 month

Database Support

Database content is going to be prepared by Deepak.

• clickable links/database information retrieval--2 weeks
• spatial queries, based on GUI--1 month
• authoring tool--lower priority, 2-3 weeks

Weather Visualization

• moving the system to geo-referenced space--a couple of days
• development of new filters (contours, isosurfaces)--2 weeks
• colormap editing tool--1 week
