This page provides access to both the server query interface and to the server management layer. Server management interface is password protected.
Most of the video material in the video database is closed captioned. The server provides closed caption indexing capability.
Dominating encoding of the video material on the server is MPEG1. The server protocol is proprietary, i.e., the server contents cannot be accessed without a special player. The list of client platforms we currently support is very limited and includes SGI workstations and PCs with Optibase MPEG decoder.
Of course, even if you have the requested hardware and software, you won't get any reasonable video playback over Internet - we deliver 30 fps MPEG1 SIF which requires 1.5 Mbit/s for a smooth playback. Our service is aimed at the distance learning and training applications that run over LANs and support QoS beyond current Internet capabilities.
