There are three Jini^TM System Software product offerings: the Jini^TM System Software Starter Kit (Jini Starter Kit), the Jini^TM Technology Core Platform Compatibility Kit (TCK), and the JavaSpaces^TM Technology Kit (JSTK).

The Jini Starter Kit contains the following three components:

Jini^TM Technology Core Platform (JCP) -- provides the core Jini technology. It includes the specifications and corresponding interfaces and classes for lookup, discovery and join, distributed events, leasing, and transactions.

Jini^TM Technology Extended Platform (JXP) -- provides the extended Jini technology. It includes the specifications and corresponding interfaces and classes for the discovery utilities and entry utilities. It also includes the JavaSpaces specification.

Jini^TM Software Kit (JSK) -- provides implementations of the lookup and transaction manager services specified in the Jini Technology Core Platform (JCP), as well as various utility classes that are useful in writing new applications and services.

The Jini^TM System Software Starter Kit (Jini Starter Kit) documentation package contains the following components:

• The JiniTM Technology Core Platform (JCP) Specif ications, including entry, lookup, discovery and join, distributed events, leasing, device architecture, and transactions. API documentation in javadoc format is also included for convenience.
• The JiniTM Technology Extended Platform (JXP) Sp ecifications, including discovery utilities and entry utilities. The JavaSpacesTM Specification can be found here. API documentation in javadoc format is also included for convenience.
• The JiniTM Software Kit (JSK) API Documentation for the public interfaces and classes in javadoc format.

The Jini^TM Technology Core Platform Compatibility Kit

This version of the TCK only tests whether a service is a "good lookup citizen," that is, whether it conforms to the requirements for a Jini service described in the specifications.

The JavaSpaces^TM Technology Kit

The JSTK provides two implementations of the JavaSpaces service specified in the Jini™ Technology Extended Platform (JXP ), a persistent version and a non-persistent version.
