About Syracuse Language Systems... The leader in language instruction technology.

Syracuse Language Systems is a developer and publisher of multimedia foreign language instruction software for home, school, and business use.

The company was established in 1990 by members of an interdisciplinary research group at Syracuse University that was studying the use of multimedia computers in language learning. Formed four years earlier, the group, which included educators, linguists, and computer experts, was led by Martin Rothenberg, Ph.D, a Syracuse University Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering who is now CEO of SLS .

Introductory Games in Spanish--SLS' first title--was published in 1991. Since then, the company has published seven CD-ROM language instruction titles, for all ages, and beginner-through-advanced intermediate skill level. Titles are available in versions for learning English, French,German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish.

Innovations in Language Instruction Technology

SLS products have received industry awards and recognition, plus the praise of reviewers,educators, and consumers alike for their innovative use of multimedia language instruction technology. The company's pioneering research led to the highly-effective multimedia language immersion approach used in several titles. In 1994, SLS published the first foreign language instruction titles to use speech recognition as a learning tool. The speech recognition technology, licensed from Dragon Systems, of Newton, Massachussetts is featured TriplePlay Plus!, Your Way, and Let's Talk.
