1. Contact HTTP server to download the Java applet
2. Use the applet to start instrumented HPF application
3. HPF server starts (implemented as an HPF extrinsic)
4. Java applet establishes communication with the HPF server
5. HPF server accepts user's requests:
- suspend/resume execution of the HPF code
- send data
- interpret new HPF statements
- dynamically link and execute shared objects
