From Introduction to ActiveX, with VBScript CPS616 -- Information Track of CPS -- Spring Semester 97. by Nancy J. McCracken

1 The <object> tag is proposed by the World Wide Web consortium to place an object on a web page. It would replace the current <img> and <applet> tags, as well as the DYNSRC attribute for audio and video, and other proprietary extensions to HTML.
2 Attributes of the object tag:
  • name
  • type
  • URL address
  • Layout information such as width, height, align, . . .
  • an ID code
3 Inside the object, the <param> tag can be used for parameters.
