1 Node instances can be given names to allow them to be replicated or otherwise referenced
2 Nodes have attributes (properties or parameters if you prefer) which are called fields
3 Fields have names for specific node types which have mnemonic value
4 However there are a set of global field types ( single or multiple(vector), floating or integer etc.) and each field is assigned a particular type and this implies format that must be used
