Foil 42 3D Data Analysis for Weather Forecast

We are currently obtaining VIS5D files from the University of Wisconsin.
  • Download twice a day, saved on NPAC's 8 processor SGI (>20MB/file, 4 files per download).
  • VIS5D files are read in Java "native" language.
  • Files are then passed into filters which construct the data in a format which can be viewed in Open Inventor.
We have support for the following filters:
  • Colored 2d Surfaces
  • Isosurfaces.
  • Vector Graphics.
  • Volumetric rendering.
Animations are possible since the data holds multiple time slices.
