Foil 88 HPF probably cannot express well

From GCF Talk U - Lewis/NASA 3/9/92 Mardi Gras Conference on Concurrent Computing in Physical Sciences -- February 18, 1993. by Geoffrey C. Fox

1 Multiple Phase problems such as
  • Particle in the cell
  • Unstructured Multigrid
2 Need to express "alignment" between phases (different levels of multigrid, particles and grid for PIC) and then optimize distribution and redistribution between phases.
3 Irregular problems of this type are only suitable for MIMD.
4 Very irregular cases with mismatches between phases perform poorly even on MIMD.
