Foil 87 A4.9: WebFlow/Bridge as Integration Framework

From Master Foilset for Collaborative and Interactive Visualization Project First Review Review Meeting at Rome Laboratory -- 31 January 1996. by Geoffrey C. Fox * See also color IMAGE

WebFlow (i.e. Web based dataflow) offers the system integration paradigm, underlying the WebMed Bridge concept.
  • Specific routing patterns,
  • rule based circuits for middleware decision making, and
  • dynamic collaboratory schemes (such as diagnosis whiteboards)
are consistently represented in terms of high-level dataflow networks (compute-webs) of information processing modules.
WebFlow modules include both
  • the general purpose and
  • specialized plugin services
The compute-web based architecture is naturally scalable with successful compute-web designs encapsulated as composite modules (webtools).
