From efwoodco@syr.edu Thu Feb 29 07:08:35 1996 Date: Wed, 28 Feb 96 12:14:09 PST From: efwoodco@syr.edu To: project-leaders@npac.syr.edu Cc: Geoffrey Fox Subject: Project Review It's time, once again, for our next round of reviews. I have reserved the conference room for Tuesday, 3/5 from 10am-2pm. Here are what I think are the key indicators to whether we are making progress. General The presentation formats are a direct match to the outline below. The information contains the specific information WITH DATES that reflect the plan. OUTLINE Project Title/Description Name of the funded project and a one or two line description People Assigned Names and % of time attributable to the effort Recent Accomplishments These are milestones achieved directly related to the requirements of the contract and the plan for delivering Key Milestones/Deliverables/Plan The key items that must be achieved to deliver on the contract with the dates they will be completed. The closer the date, the more specific this should be. Conversely, the farther out the date, the more flexibility acceptable. Constraints/Problems/Inhibitors Consistent with the last section, the nearer the problem, the definition is required. This should briefly describe the inhibitor/..., the date by which the problem must be solved and whether someone (who) believes they have responsibility for solving or removing the inhibitor. This and the last section are absolutely the most critical in getting value from this process. If the project you are working on is unfunded, the plan should include the pieces of work planned to obtain funding (as well as inhibitors/...). This also must include specific dates. If you have any questions, see me as soon as possible.
