Journal No. 4 ENG213 Advanced Composition Jungkee (Jake) Kim You Gotta Have Wa Due to the effects of the introduction for the modern sports from Japan and same Asian cultural background, similar cultural concept exists in sports world in Korea. We can say it as "Woori", the same meaning of "We" in English but something more than that. However, it it not that extreme shape as described in the article. Though I don't know exact form in Japan, I think that in Korea is much weaker than that of Japan. On campus, similar value could be applicable to the sports team. Because all the members of the team are amatuer and only the respect can be given to better players. If the team work were not established on a sports game, the power of the players would be decreased much. For example, it is known that the ability of the members of LA Laker's pro basketball team is very good, but they didn't get the good result for the rate of winning until Phil Jackson has been a new coach of the team. Nontheless, the team work is not the same concept of "Wa". The other example for such "Wa" on campus is the close relationship among the members of sororities and fraternities on campus. They usually have a strange enterance party and new comers should be tested on an untolerable behaviour like drinking large amount of alcohol at once and yelling and running with half naked through campus in a group. So, the relationship within a group is so close enough to give facilities to a stranger who come from other university but a member of the same group.
