Internet2 do

Internet2 is a cooperative effort of more than one hundred
         universities working together with industry, government,
         and nonprofit organizations.  As a vital tool for future
         research in higher education, Internet2 will assure
         universities and other research centers access to the most
         advanced network-based applications and infrastructure.

Among the key technologies that will be stressed are
         scaleable Multicast and differentiated Quality of Service,
         needed to support Applications that are naturally
         one-to-many and few-to-few in their communications
         patterns, and which do not function without sustained high
         bandwidth and constrained delay.  In doing so, Internet2
         will further the ability of teachers, students, and researchers
         at member universities to collaborate, access remote
         laboratory devices, bring digital libraries into common use,
         offer innovative and flexible forms of teaching and learning,
         and pioneer the use of Tele-Immersion.
