My Philosophy of Teaching Physics is not a difficult subject. But, I often wonder why many students find it to be so. I recall the difficulties I had as a college student and the methods I have used since then to overcome them. I try to pass these methods on to my students. Even though I have successfully taught the material several times before, I continually reconsider the way I present the subject matter. Often, I am enlightened by the more-modern (arguably, the more-correct) formulations of the subject. Being aware of the abilities of my students, I struggle to formulate the essence of these advanced ideas in a simplified form. I believe that, with some thoughtful effort, this is possible and, in fact, necessary for the advancement of the subject. In my view, I strongly believe that, when understood and appreciated, such ideas will minimize confusion and clarify the physical concepts--both, for my students and for myself. Roberto B.
