SoW stipulates support for Internet Explorer
  • determined to be very expensive and time consuming and not easy to maintain concurrently with Netscape version, so we found another approach
Alternative approach studied, designed, and prototyped (full implementation proposed for Year 4)
  • Solution also helps with some problems of browsers relative to Tango
    • Browsers critical but nonstandard Java and bugs implies extremely unfriendly for developers
    • Performance problems under UNIX
    • Development and maintenance of two different technologies very expensive
