• Attribute types:

  • String type: CDATA
  • Tokenized type: ID, IDREF, IDREFS, ENTITY, ENTITIES
  • Enumerated type: attribute can take only one of a list of values provided in the declaration

• Attribute defaults:

  • required - forces the attribute to appear in the element (no default value)
  • implied - the application supplies the default value
  • fixed - can have only one value (specified)

• Declaration of ‘name’ attribute for element ‘thing’:

<!ATTLIST thing name CDATA #REQUIRED>
