Oracle Information Navigator Tree

The Oracle Information Navigator tree is a Java-based applet that displays the information library hierarchically in a directory tree structure similar to the Windows NT and Windows 95 Explorer. The directory tree structure enables you to access documents (Universal Resource Locator [URL] pages) by expanding and collapsing folders. When you double-click a document, it displays in the browser window. When completely expanded, the directory tree structure can list every folder and individual document in the information library. This enables you to select and view information in the library without having to visit intermediate pages.

This section discusses:

Basic Navigation

  1. Double-click a folder in the Oracle Information Navigator tree to expand it. Folders can include additional folders (identified by the folder and book icons) or individual documents (identified by the page icon).
  2. Click a document to display its contents in the browser window:

Expanding and Collapsing
Expanding and Collapsing a folder can be accomplished in one of three ways:

Search, Home, and Help Buttons
The tree buttons display at the top of the Oracle Information Navigator tree, and provide single-click access to the following features:

Activate the Oracle Information Navigator search feature
Reset the browser window to the opening page of the information library. This page is defined as the home page
Open this help page

Filter Feature (Optional)
The filter feature (if implemented) can display next to the Oracle Information Navigator tree buttons:

The filter feature enables you to filter information types from the Oracle Information Navigator tree.

For example, the Filter drop-down list box can enable you to display information based on operating system. When you select an operating system, the Oracle Information Navigator tree and search feature can only display information for the selected operating system.

Note: Not all implementations of the Oracle Information Navigator tree use the filter feature. This is an option that must be configured by an application developer.
