Quantizing of non-zero wavelet coefficients
  • many-to-one staircase functions
  • decision points {Di,i=0,...,n}
  • reconstruction levels {Ri,i=0,...,n}
  • input value 'x' is mapped to a reconstruction level 'Ri' if 'x' lies in the interval (Di, Di+1]
  • separate quantizer for each scale
