Abstract

In this research a comparison in terms of performance is to be made between a cloud simulator called cloudsim and actual clouds(VM's deployed in cloud) based on the resource allocation.

Intellectual Merit

It will help us understand performance of a simulation based cloud and actual cloud. if the performance of both are same or nearly same then we can use simulation for cloud than using actual cloud.

Broader Impacts

use of simulation based cloud in research instead of using actual cloud

Resource Requirements

Hardware Systems
  • alamo (Dell optiplex at TACC)
  • foxtrot (IBM iDataPlex at UF)
  • hotel (IBM iDataPlex at U Chicago)
  • india (IBM iDataPlex at IU)
  • sierra (IBM iDataPlex at SDSC)
  • xray (Cray XM5 at IU)
  • bravo (large memory machine at IU)

Use of FutureGrid

Used to create VM's in cloud and run the applications in cloud and compare the resource usage with that of, in cloudsim.

Scale of Use

not sure of it
