EUAsiaGrid—Widening the Uptake of e-Research in the Asia-Pacific Region

Abstract
Over the past years, the European Commission has invested significantly in the development of e-Infrastructure that transcends national and regional boundaries and has the potential to become a central part of an emerging global e-Infrastructure for research. Today, the EGEE grid infrastructure is the largest multidisciplinary grid infrastructure in the world.
The EUAsiaGrid project aims to build on this success and to complement the work of the EGEE Asia Federation and projects such as EUChinaGrid and EUIndiaGrid. The consortium of 15 partners will provide support to foster the wider uptake of e-Research and of the EGEE e-Infrastructure in particular within the eight partner countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Its main aims are to:
- foster e-Infrastructure provision and coordination of service development in the Asia-Pacific region;
- support research communities through help with application porting and deployment;
- provide training to widen dissemination of technological know-how; and
- monitor the results and feedback into policy definition.
