Abstract
In this article, we present a content-based video search service for mobile device users. After taking a photograph, the user can upload it to our server, which will then return videos containing key frames that are similar to the uploaded picture.
In recent years, the practice of sharing personal digital videos on the Internet has become increasingly popular, and the variety of information has expanded rapidly as a consequence. Unfortunately, most video-sharing Web sites only provide text-based search functions; hence, it is sometimes difficult for users to accurately describe the information they need. For example, a user might be interested in a statue he sees while traveling, but he does not have any information to describe it with suitable words. In this situation, the user can simply take a picture with a mobile device, and upload it via a wireless network to our server, which will search related video information and return relevant key frames to the user. We already have made few experiments and we thought the proposed service demonstrates that the search application is feasible.
