e-Science 2008 4th IEEE International Conference on e-Science

Call for Participation

Workshops & Special Sessions

Important Dates:

  • Submission Window: May 16-June 20, 2008
  • Feedback and Notification of Acceptance: Beginning May 23, 2008

The e-Science 2008 conference invites proposals for workshops and special sessions.

Special sessions will be considered part of the main conference, and their refereeing process will need approval by the main conference organizers and should include at least three independent reviews. The papers in special sessions will be published along with the main conference proceedings, with a limit of eight pages (with the option to buy two more pages at $100 per page), and the papers should conform to the IEEE guidelines for main track papers.

Papers in workshops will also be published with the main conference proceedings but will be limited to six pages each. Exceptional workshop papers may be nominated by workshop organizers to be treated as main conference papers.

Proposals are invited on aspects of e-Science and grid computing, with an emphasis on workshops and sessions oriented around application domains as opposed to grid technologies. Workshops can range from a half day to a full day. Having multiple organizers with good geographic and institutional diversity is suggested but not required.

Proposals should be sent to Kenneth Chiu (kchiu [at] cs [dot] binghamton [dot] edu) and should contain:

  • A description of the proposed workshop or session, specifying the goals and topics that will be included
  • A clear statement about why you consider it relevant to e-Science 2008, including the audience that might be interested in attending and why they would be interested
  • A description of the qualifications of the proposed organizing committee with respect to organizing this workshop/session (e.g., papers published in the proposed topic area, previous workshop organization, other relevant information)
  • A partial list of the workshop’s program committee, which will be responsible for the reviewing process

We encourage potential organizers to contact us early. We will accept proposals from May 16 to June 20, 2008. Initial feedback will be given starting May 23. The list of accepted papers is due on September 7 to conform to IEEE publication requirements.
