Context XML Metadata Services

We design a hybrid information service supporting both the scalability of large amounts of relatively slowly varying data and a high performance rapidly updated information service for dynamic regions. We use and extend the two web service standards UDDI and WS-Context in our system. We apply our open software to sensor, collaboration, crisis grids.

The FTHPIS project is being developed by Mehmet S. Aktas under close supervision of both Dr. Marlon Pierce and Prof. Dr. Geoffrey C. Fox. For information or queries pertaining to FTHPIS you can mail us at (maktas_at_cs_dot_indiana.edu, mpierce_at_cs_dot_indiana.edu and gcf_at_indiana_dot_edu).

Extending WS-Context Specifications

We built new XML metadata services that can handle “conversational session data” problems in which metadata is short-lived and dependent on the client. We are basing this on the WS-Context specification from OASIS (http://www.oasis-open.org). We implemented Context Service’s primary functions such as GetContext and SetContext. We used the Context Service to store metadata that (collectively) identifies the state of the system.

Software - New Releases - Schedule

[1] - We finished implementation and testing of a first release of WS-Context Service. This version has been successfully used in a GIS workflow system to support a data analysis tool called Pattern Informatics. The installation package for this release can be found here.

[2] - We finished implementation and testing of a stable version of WS-Context and WS-Context Response Handler Services. This release enables associations (parent -> children) to be built between contexts stored in the Context Service. Please find the installation package for this release here.

[3] - We implemented a broker based notification feature into WS-Context Service. This feature is successfully being used in a workflow based GIS Grid system to support an analysis software called the Interdependent Energy Infrastructure Simulation System (IEISS). The installation package for this release can be found here.

[4] - We implemented unified extended UDDI & WS-Context Services designed for collaboration grids in particular. This release will support advanced query capabilities such as session based service discovery, discovery of entities in a given session. This release is successfully being used in Vlab and GlobalMMCS projects. The installation package for this release can be found at following link. [Updated]
