FutureGrid enables cloud-in-cloud experiments using OpenStack

A virtual appliance, packaged by University of Florida researchers, makes it possible for FutureGrid users to experiment with virtual cloud environments using OpenStack-compute software. The OpenStack appliance has been prepared to be launched as a Virtual Machine on FutureGrid Nimbus cloud resources – this means that a fully operational Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) cloud is deployed inside another IaaS cloud. The OpenStack appliance packages a fully configured OpenStack-compute software and takes advantage of recursive virtualization, in particular the QEMU inside KVM.
