Using Clouds to Scale GIS Applications

Abstract

We investigate the feasibility of using infrastructure as a service clouds for acquiring additional resources for scaling CyberGIS gateways.

Intellectual Merit

Develop methods of scaling CyberGIS services.

Broader Impact

This has the potential to change how cloud computing is presented to scientists of the GIS community.

Use of FutureGrid

We will use FutureGrid to deploy on-demand virtual machines for scaling our service.

Scale Of Use

From 1 to a dozen VMs.
