REGISTRATION
The Conference is sponsored by Los Alamos National Laboratory in cooperation
with the University of Colorado. There is no registration fee to
attend the conference; however, participants are responsible for their
travel expenses, accommodations and meals. All participants,
including session speakers, are required to register. Please
register by October 8, so that the required arrangements can be completed.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hotel Santa Fe for the Conference.
The hotel's web page can be found here. To secure hotel accommodations at the discounted conference rate of $108.00
plus tax, single or double occupancy, contact the hotel directly, and refer
to the General Earthquake Model Workshop. Reservations will be accepted
until September 25, 1997. After that date, requests will be accepted
on a rate- and space-available basis. As a courtesy to participants,
arrangements have been made with the Hotel Santa Fe to extend the conference
rate for two days before the conference dates, based on availability.
Santa Fe is a popular destination during the fall season and availability of lodging is very limited. It is recommednded that hotel reservations be made as soon as possible.
TRANSPORTATION
Albuquerque International Airport is the major air terminal nearest
Santa Fe. Santa Fe is approximately 65 miles (1 hour) north
of Albuquerque. Major car rental agencies are represented at the
airport; it is recommended that reservations be made in advance.
Shuttlejack provides ground transportation between the airport and the
Hotel Santa Fe daily on approximately a two-hour schedule from 7:15 a.m.
until 10:15 p.m. at a cost of $20.00 one way. Similar return service
is available. Reservations are required to guarantee seating and
can be made directly with Shuttlejack at (505)-982-4311, or 1-800-452-2665.
The Hotel Santa Fe offers a complimentry shuttle to and from the historic Santa Fe Plaza, the cultural center of the city and the location of restaurants, museums, and unique shops.
DIRECTIONS
MAP TO HOTEL
From the airport terminal take the Airport Exit to Yale (get into left
lane), follow Yale approximately 1/4 mile to Gibson. Turn left onto
Gibson (get in right lane), and exit at I-25 North to Santa Fe. Follow
I-25 North approximately 55 miles to Exit #282, St. Francis Drive.
Proceed North on St. Francis Drive (get into right lane) approximately
2 miles to Paseo de Peralta. Turn right onto Paseo de Peralta,
cross Guadalupe Street and the Hotel Santa Fe will be on the left.
HOSPITALITY
A reception and early registration will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM
on Thursday, October 23, 1997 at the Hotel Santa Fe.
A continental breakfast for meeting participants will be served each day near the conference room. There are no formal lunch or dinner arrangements. The hotel has a restaurant on site and is within a short walk to a variety of dining locations. The Hotel Santa Fe provides complimentary shuttle service available on request to transport guests to local area restaurants.

Every effort will be made to accommodate special needs of disabled

WEATHER/CLOTHING
Normal average daytime temperature for Fall is 60 F and 43 F at night.
A light jacket, sweaters, and comfortable shoes for exploring Santa Fe
are all recommended.
